Ingredients

For the Apples:

  • 3 Honeycrisp apples, chopped

  • 1 ½ tablespoons pure maple syrup

  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon

  • Small pinch of sea salt

For the Crisp Topping:

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • ½ cup almond flour

  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

  • ½ cup chopped pecans

  • ½ cup pure maple syrup

  • ¼ cup melted grass fed butter (or avocado oil for a dairy-free version)

  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a pie plate or small baking dish with butter or avocado oil.

  2. Prepare the apples:
    In a medium bowl, toss the chopped apples with maple syrup, cinnamon, and a pinch of sea salt until evenly coated. Spread them evenly in the prepared baking dish.

  3. Make the crisp topping:
    In another bowl, combine oats, almond flour, walnuts, pecans, maple syrup, melted butter (or avocado oil), cinnamon, vanilla, and sea salt. Stir until everything is well mixed and crumbly.

  4. Assemble:
    Sprinkle the crisp mixture evenly over the apples, pressing lightly to help it stick.

  5. Bake:
    Cover with tin foil, place the dish in the oven and bake for 20 minutes, then remove foil and bake another 30 mins or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.

  6. Finish and serve:
    For a little extra indulgence, drizzle a touch more maple syrup over the top before serving. Enjoy warm — it’s perfect on its own or with a dollop of Greek yogurt or vanilla ice cream.
